THE HEBREW LANGUAGE MOVES WEST

There are two areas of interest in this language of the Hebrews that should be addresssed. Its migration westward to the Isles of the West is one area. The other is the question of the “Hebrew” language itself. As it is easier and more fun to consider the migration of the Hebrew language westward, we will do that in this piece. Bear in mind that the Israelite migration, beginning as a trickle, started with the children of the  sons of Jacob/Israel. However, the West was not the only area settled by branches of Israel.

Consider a curiosity: “That the ‘fair Kelts of an Irish Village’ are indeed Israelites is thus clear. Even their [Kelts'] language further confirms such identification, for it (Erse) is akin to both Gaelic and Welsh. The similarity of the last-mentioned [Welsh] to Hebrew is so great that it drew forth considerable research on the part of the noted ['Jewish'] Hebrew Scholar of the last century, Dr. Moses Margoliouth, and the following comment:

‘A small remnant of  [Solomon's subjects] remained in Cornwall since that time (the time of the building of his Temple). I have traced that remnant by the paths of philology, and the byways of nomenclature. I might adduce an array of whole sentences, exactly alike in the languages of Hebrew and the ancient Cornish. I might adduce some of the proper names which prevailed among the aboriginal Britons long before they knew anything of Christianity, such as Adam, Abraham, Asaph,…Daniel, Solomon…(The Hebrews In East Anglia [1870], Margoliouth).’ “    [UNCOVERING THE MYSTERIES OF YOUR HIDDEN INHERITANCE, Robert Alan Balaicius, Appendix E, pp.177-78, citing C.F. Parker's ISRAEL'S MIGRATIONS OR AN ATTACK ANSWERED, p.13]

That there were Hebrew colonies in Cornwall, England, is not surprising to those who realise that Yahshua’s uncle, Yosef of Arimathea, was a Roman Decurio, having supervision over the tin mining (and probably mining generally, whether iron , copper or tin). He is remembered in song by miners and residents of that area still in the song: “Joseph Was A Tin Man.”

Also, there seems to be every reason to suppose that Yahshua accompanied his uncle, especially after the death of his father, Joseph, on sailing trips to the British Isles (and perhaps others, such as Ireland). We are confident he also set foot on Iberia. This is not fantasy. Please recall the imagery of Yahshua in his parables, where he frequently referenced the sea, fish, fishing, sailors, fishermen, and wealthy merchants (such as his uncle) who went off on business far away. He spoke parables in imagery, which was impressed upon his mind during those exciting voyages westward with Yosef of Arimathea. He chose His first Apostles from the rank of fishermen. His miracles often involved fish, boats at sea, or on sea itself. His disciples’ symbol became the fish. He seemed to enjoy the company of ordinary–probably often “salty”–men. The Pharaisees even upbraided him for sharing the table with ordinary sorts–what with their common, vulgar ways. What the Pharaisees didn’t understand was that they heard His voice. And on His trips with his uncle to England, he undoubtedly was delighted to speak to the Britons and other locals, laughing with pleasure at each others’s dialect.

As further support for this Hebrew language migration, consider:

“William Tyndale (1492-1536), the English reformer (who was strangled to death and then burned for his translation of the Holy Scriptures into English), announced his remarkable discovery that because of the similarities between Hebrew and English, English was the most suitable language for a translation of the Scriptures. He said, ‘The properties of the Hebrew tongue agreeth one thousand times more with the English than with the Latin or the Greek. The manner of speaking is in both one, so that, in a thousand places, there needest not be but to translate the Hebrew word for word.’

“This is no mere coincidence, for God declared (Isaiah 28:11) that He would speak to his people in another language…”   [UNCOVERING THE MYSTERIES OF YOUR HIDDEN INHERITANCE, Robert Alan Balaicius, Appendix E, p.178]

People, Isaiah wasn’t referencing Yiddish or Ladino. There is so much evidence pointing to Israel moving westward into Iberia, the Hebrides and Briton, as well as Brittany, Saxony, Denmark and the northwestern part of Europe and Gaul/Gothland, that the proclamation by Yahweh’s prophets have clearly been witnessed abundantly by the evidence of Israel, in so much as they have a bearing on this subject. Consider:

“All etymologists know that the Greek, Latin, German, Icelandic, Norse, Danish, Dutch and several other languages figure in the structure and vocabulary of the present Anglo-Saxon (English) language. While Greek and Latin words have contributed to the English language, more than 75 percent of English words come direct from Hebrew words or their roots. Of course, many of these old British words are used in modern dress; their spelling and …the pronunciations, have been varied as time has passed.”    [Supra, p.178, citing MISSING LINKS DISCOVERED IN ASSYRIAN TABLETS, (1985), E. Raymond Capt, p.187]

Now, by this time the overwhelming number of public school students has been “spun” by their teachers into viewing this whole business as an early example of “diverse cultures” mingling successfully, and this allows the promotion of “diversity” as perfectly typical in the Anglo-Saxon society, as well as in the larger Europe. Yet, contemporary teachers notwithstanding, these vibrant tribes coursing through Europe by land and sea were actually kith and kin. They were Hebrews and Israelites. Consider:

“Another has written, ‘Scarcely any Hebrew root can be discovered that has not its corresponding derivative in the ancient British language.’ An eminent Cornish scholar of the last century, who devoted a great deal of time to prove the affinity between the Hebrew and Welsh languages, observes,

‘It would be difficult to adduce a single article or form of construction in the Hebrew grammar, but…the same is to be found in Welsh, and that there are many whole sentences in both languages exactly the same in the very words.’

“Canon Lyson finds 5,000 Hebrew roots in the English tongue…. This is quite understandable in…light of the fact…the British Isles were peopled by…descendants of the Ten Tribes. On any other premise it is hardly understandable.”   [supra, citing WHO AND WHERE ARE THE LOST TEN TRIBES?, Rev. John Heslip, pp.17-18]

Although I certainly believe that the bulk of the Northern Kingdom of Israel migrated at different times and groupings from north of Assyria into Europe, settling mostly in northwest Europe. Some of these then made their way into the British Isles. The Angles were the dominant group of these. However, the Celtic Britons who were mostly concentrated in the southwestern part of Great Britain today in the general area of Cornwall and Wessex, were also of Israelite stock, in my view. They may have been a blend of the earliest Hebrew stock and subsequent stock from the seafaring tribes such as Dan, whose serpent path left colonies in far-flung areas from Greece to the Danube Valley to Denmark and the Isles of the West. Brittany on the modern French coast most likely was also a colony of Dan–or Naphtali. The point here is that a “re-gathering” of Israel was taking place at western Europe. I believe that it sort of prefigures the more important “re-gathering” in America–the Promised Land,” where Israel would be replanted. Be that as it may, the language affinity cannot be overlooked. Consider:

“Saveral other scholars have noted the extraodinary affinity between the Hebrew and the Welsh languages. Dr. Davies, in his WELSH GRAMMAR tells us that almost every page of the Welsh translation of the Bible is replete with Hebraisms, in the time, sense and spirit of the original. Another authority, Dr. Duncan M’Dougall, writing in the Evangelical Christian, says ‘You can take any sentence in Hebrew and change it into Gaelic, word for word, without altering the order of a single word or particle [of speech], and you will have the correct Gaelic idiom in every case….’ “   [supra, p.180, citing OUR DESCENT FROM ISRAEL PROVED, (1931), Colquhoun]

Although we live in a time when every absurdity is treated with respect, and every piece of shining truth is treated with marked suspicion, I must say that I am comfortable in my assertion that Israel is to found in the Celto-Germanic people. It is nice to realise that I am not alone in this belief. Consider:

“It is reported that in 1827, the British & Foreign Bible Society  sent Hebrew (obviously not modern ‘Hebrew’) Bibles to Ireland for the Gaelic-speaking peasantry to read. Although they could not read English, they could read Hebrew.

“Taylor also draws parallel to the Hebrew names of people prominent throughout the British Isles. In the Irish and Scottish annals, the name of several princes in the genealogies of the royal house of Tara was ‘Heber’ or ‘Eber’–the very name of the father of the Hebrews. Further, the name is preserved in the very names of the tribes who peopled these islands: the Hibernians (Iberich) and Hebrideans (Ebrideans). Place names of Hebrew origin are also common.

“The significance of this becomes more apparent when one realizes that the word Hebrew means ‘one who crosses over,’ that is, ‘a colonizer.’ Even as the Hebrew/Israelites ‘crossed over’ the Jordan River into the Promised Land, so too after the Israelites’ captivity, they crossed over into Europe, then across the English Channel into the Isles, and later across the oceans to America, Australia, South Africa, etc., to the new Promised Lands to which God promised to lead them.’”   [supra, pp.179-80, citing Gladys Taylor, OUR MOTHER TONGUE]

I’ve mentioned the Tribe of Dan. In conjunction with the concept of leaving Hebrew names (Eber/Heber) in the western isles of prophecy and fact, the Tribe of Dan has, perhaps more than any other tribe of the twelve, has left namesakes scattered about. Many rivers bear in their title the root of Dan (Danube, Dnieper, Don, etc.) So, too, do many lands and clans bear witness to Dan. Consider a few: Denmark, Dunkirk, Donnells, MacDonalds, Dunnes, Dunleavy (combines both Dan & Levy tribes), Daniels, O’Donnells, Dinneys, Denises, Donegal, and so forth. One should bear in mind that the written Hebrew language did not typically utilize vowels, so that the sound of the vowel employed by a given clan might differ, as well as the sound given it by other peoples. When one begins to look, then one sees such a plethora of them that the natural reaction is to say: This can’t be true. One is overwhelmed by the sudden obviousness of it all. One feels that one has been stupid. That’s unsettling and difficult to accept in itself. Then, one thinks: I haven’t been taught this at school, nor by priest nor preacher. If it were true, why wouldn’t they tell me?

All I can say is that it is true. Evidence for it is abundant. The silence by clergy and pedagogues tells its own tale. No one expects more than material omission from the media on any important issue, so their silence is not startling. And all of these may boldly lie, if they feel ulterior motives sanction deceit. That sort of thing is not for me. I say: Let the truth flow–and the world be free.
